India signs $2B deal with EU on green hydrogen

India and the European Union have signed a $2 billion agreement to jointly develop green hydrogen infrastructure. The project includes setting up electrolysers in Gujarat and Odisha and sharing research and training programs. This collaboration aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and meet India’s net-zero targets by 2070. Experts believe this will also boost India’s hydrogen exports to Europe. The agreement includes grants for startups working in hydrogen logistics and safety.
